Building my daughter a blog (part 1)

My daughter, like a lot of other young female teens, love expressing herself both by drawing/painting and writing.

Seeing her sharing her pictures and writings with friends on whatsapp with her friends, I suggested she create a blog where she can post proper sized images and write around those. Then she can direct her friends to the blog for new posts

She liked the idea so I started looking at how I can help her setup something that does not cost and arm and a leg. Searching through multiple articles and pages on the web, it soon became apparent that WordPress might be the easiest and initially most cost effective option. Below is a list of things that make WordPress ideal for just this purpose. Have a look through them, it might just spark something in your creative side too

User-Friendly (even for beginners)

In WordPress you are presented with an intuitive interface with which you can do almost everything required to create and manage your website requiring very little technical knowledge or coding skills. Page creation, editing and publishing can be done using the standard built in visual editor that makes these tasks a breeze.

A WordPress site can be setup and ready in a matter of minutes, all a user needs apart from WordPress itself is a domain name and an active web hosting service Hosting providers have different options on how you can work with WordPress, some of them allow you to directly install the latest version from their web console while with others you may need to upload the latest version and then install it. Regardless of the method used, once you’ve got it installed WordPress presents you with an admin dashboard that will present you with all the features required to customize a site to your heart’s desire
